Songs That Matter is the theme of today’s podcast. Carolyn Harley (my mom) has been writing songs for almost 40 years. In this conversation we talk about what’s kept her writing, why despite having written almost 600 songs she considers herself a ‘Late Bloomer’ and the healing power of music and Songs That Matter.
Hi and welcome to the 10th episode of The Spark & The Art Podcast.
This week is Carolyn Harley a singer/songwriter from Calgary who despite having been writing songs for the last 40 years is only now taking her music in a professional direction. We talk about the how she considers her creativity a gift and that with that gift comes a responsibility. That responsibility is to the ‘songs that matter’ and she describes that better than I can so I won’t try to do that here.
We also talk about what has kept her writing (almost 600 songs) and the importance that being part of a creative community plays in her work.
During the talk we mention a couple local places and some friends. Here are a couple links form them.
Stick around after the conversation to hear the song we talk about during the podcast - The Spirit Of The Famous Five. You can learn more about this song and other projects that Carolyn is working on by visiting her at CarolynHarley.com
Also don’t forget that if anything in today’s podcast makes you think of someone who may think that it’s too late for them to shine It’d be great if you could share this episode with them to let them know that it’s not. The episode can be shared with TheSparkAndTheArt.com/10
