70 - The Art of Shouting Quietly with Pete Mosley

“It’s not about conquering fear, it’s about becoming familiar with what the fears feel like and then regarding them as slightly better friends than you thought they were.” - Pete Mosley, Author The Art Of Shouting Quietly

Hello and welcome to the 70th episode of The Spark & The Art creativity podcast. Thank you for subscribing to our weekly podcast where we alternate between interviews with creative folks from all different career levels and insight and inspiration episodes. All with the intention you’ll get what you need to get your creative projects started and, more importantly, finished.

I’m your host Tucker and this week is a chat with Creativity Coach and author of the marketing book for introverts called The Art Of Shouting Quietly.

In today’s chat we talk about crowdfunding a book and some of the misconceptions about what parts of a crowdfunding campaign are  actually most important. We talk about his new book The Art Of Shouting Quietly but we also talk about his first book and the different writing and publishing approaches he took for each of them. We also talk about how although he has written two books he doesn’t necessarily consider himself an author - writing books was just part of his larger purpose of helping creative folks find their way to a fulfilling career. We also talk about finding your way into your stretch zone and the importance of making friends with fear. While trying to remember a TED talk I’d seen about fear I forget James Cameron’s name. I put the talk I was referencing, as well as links to Pete’s book and some other things mention, in the show notes page for this episode. You can find that at TheSparkAndTheArt.com/70

There is a lot of good stuff in here and I’m sure you’ll enjoy today’s chat with Pete Mosley.

Do you feel like you are familiar with what your fear feels like? Does that feeling shut you down or can you use it to find your way into new territory? If you have a story of when you recognized your fear and moved forward with something anyway, I’d love to hear it. Leave a message on my toll-free number 1-877-966-4886 and I may use it in a future episode.

If you know someone who could use a little push into their Stretch Zone I’d love it if you could share this episode with them. Maybe they’ll get the little nudge they need to move forward on their project. The easiest way to share this with them is to send them the URL TheSparkAndTheArt.com/70

Thanks for listening and remember: you won’t get the art without the work and you won’t do the work without the spark.
